Texas Swing Dance This Friday

Are you ready for some fun as big as Texas? This Friday, June 1st , our barn dance will feature Texas Swing music for two-stepping, Texas swing, waltzing, maybe even a line dance or two. Our swing instructor for the night will be Bill Wright. The fun will start at 7:00. Please bring a snack to share.

Frontier Fest

Celebrate Utah’s cultural heritage at the first annual Frontier Fest on June 9th at Gardner Village in West Jordan. There will be plenty of music, dancing, cowboy poetry, a live concert featuring “The Nathan McEuen Trio” and more. Here’s the schedule:

Pre-Show. Featuring Winners of Youth Cowboy Poet Contest, Songwriter Contest, and Bluegrass Scramble, plus an Old-Fashioned Auction.
7:00 PM
Evening Concert – Nathan McEuen Trio. Nathan McEuen (son of John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), and his trio are well known recording artists. The group released the album “Grand Design” in 2005.

Performance Opportunities

If anyone is interested in performing at The Courtyard at Jamestown, a retirement center, please contact Laurie Smith at 377-3730. Our family has done this before and throughly enjoyed the experience of associating with these lovely people.

Another performance opportunity is with the Santaquin Senior Citizens group. They meet at lunchtime on Fridays. If interested, please contact Claudia Peterson at 754-5310.

The Institute of American Music was founded in 1993 for the purpose of providing individuals and groups the opportunity to study traditional American and Bluegrass music.
